In 2018, Martinez Immigration Law PLLC opened its doors with the goal of providing top-quality legal services to members of the immigrant community in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Co-founding attorney Mark Martinez had been honing his skills as an immigration attorney for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security—first with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and later with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Mark graduated from law school with honors, then began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review. After completing his clerkship, he worked as a litigation associate with a large international law firm working on assignments in both the United States and Mexico, then returned to federal government service. He was an Assistant Chief Counsel and later a Deputy Chief Counsel for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), then transferred to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as an Associate Counsel. As an attorney for ICE and USCIS, Mark developed expertise in the laws and regulations relating to deportation and removal proceedings, applications for lawful immigration status, and naturalization (becoming a U.S. citizen). He has appeared regularly before Immigration Judges and argued complex legal issues in court and on appeal, and has advised government officers on complicated legal issues arising in various areas of immigration law, including immigration detention, criminal grounds of deportation, adjustment of status, derivation of citizenship, waivers of inadmissibility, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and many others. Mark's extensive experience as a government immigration attorney gives him a unique understanding of the immigration process and plays a critical role in his efforts to develop comprehensive and successful immigration strategies for his clients.
